Samsung Tri-Fold Design Revealed Via One UI 8 Animation Files: Dual Hinges, Inward Folding, Triple Rear Camera Unit, and More

The second Galaxy Unpacked event of 2025 will be taking place next week on the 9th of July 2025, and while the tech world expects the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Galaxy Z Flip 7, and Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE/Special Edition debut, Samsung fans also awaits updates concerning the brand’s tri-fold device as well. Recent reports have already suggested that the launch of this device would likely only take place at the end of the year, and its mass production was also reported to have been delayed.
Following all these updates, via the animation files found within the latest One UI 8 build (received via Android Authority), the design of the upcoming Samsung tri-fold device have been revealed – pointing out a few of its notable design aspects. Check out more about it below.
Samsung Tri-Fold – Design Revealed Via One UI 8 Animation Files
As per the first two below-given videos about the device’s NFC operating function, an overall idea of how the upcoming Galaxy tri-fold would look can be understood. The videos point to a lighter and darker version, and the rear portion is revealed to have three panels. Of the three panels, the left one has the rear camera module that is more or less reminiscent of the Galaxy Z Fold models, while the center panel houses the cover display featuring a centrally-aligned punch-hole selfie camera. The right panel seems to be vacant and is just a blank panel.
In terms of the foldable main inner display, it is quite large and appears rectangular in shape. The punch-hole selfie camera can be spotted at the right-hand side of the inner display. Also, both the cover display and inner display have seemingly thin and symmetrical bezels too.
It should also be noted that the upcoming Samsung tri-fold will have a G-shaped fold, unlike the S-shaped fold of the Huawei Mate XT device. While Huawei’s foldable has one inward and one outward folding hinge, notably the Samsung device has two inward folding hinges. Moreover, in two of the below-given videos (3rd and 4th), it can be seen that one of the hinges is smaller and the other is larger on the Samsung tri-fold. This is believed to give a proper sandwich fold to the device.
Additionally, Samsung also has a warning notification for its tri-fold when the wrong side is folded first. The blank panel attached with the smaller hinge should be folded first, and then the panel with cameras that is attached to the device with the larger hinge. In the last folding animation, a recessed space can also be spotted at the right side panel to occupy the volume rockers and power button.
Looking into previous reports, initially it was being said that Samsung is going to call its tri-fold as the ‘Galaxy G Fold’, however later it was suggested to launch under the Galaxy Z Fold 7 series itself with a similar moniker. But the animation files refer the device as ‘Multifold 7’ (may be its final marketing name or just a codename for the device).
Speaking more, last month the Samsung tri-fold was spotted (allegedly) on the 3C certification platform and it was revealed to support a possible 25W wired fast charge feature. Also, its batteries were spotted on the BIS certification platform as well (allegedly). Its other expected specs include the 9.96″ inner main display, 6.54″ height, and the 298 gm of weight.
We may be coming across more updates soon and there is a chance that Samsung might probably drop a few more details concerning its tri-fold flagship at the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event just like last time. Stay tuned and don’t miss out on the future updates.
