Samsung Galaxy Phones to Receive Android 16 Based One UI 8 This Summer, Confirms Google

As part of the upcoming I/O 2025 event, the California-based tech maker – Google very recently conducted a special edition of ‘The Android Show’. During the program, an exciting announcement was made by the brand, confirming that Samsung’s Galaxy phones are soon going to receive the One UI 8 custom skin based on the latest Android 16 operating system this summer.

One UI 8 Coming to Samsung Galaxy Phones This Summer?

We have already come across multiple updates concerning Samsung’s next One UI 8 custom skin and unlike the One UI 7 messed-up roll-out schedule, Samsung is believed to roll it out soonskipping the One UI 7.1 update itself. At Google’s recent ‘The Android Show’ conducted as a prelude to the I/O 2025 event of next week, the brand has announced that the Android 16 stable version will be coming out next month in June 2025, and the roll-out to supported smartphones will be beginning this summer.

Samsung this time will be among the brands to soon roll out their Android 16 based custom skins and the One UI 8 update will be arriving on Galaxy phones in summer itself. In related news, the One UI 8 beta program is also said to begin as early as by the end of this month in May 2025, and latest Galaxy flagships such as the Galaxy S25 series and Galaxy Fold/Flip 6 devices will possibly be getting the beta update. To note, reports have also pointed out that the beta program of One UI 8 will likely be shorter compared to the previous one, and only a few Galaxy devices may become part of it.

Speaking more, earlier this month the Galaxy S25 smartphone running on Android 16 based One UI 8 was again spotted on the Geekbench database with higher benchmark scores in the single-core and multi-core tests, whereas the first One UI 8 beta build for the Galaxy S25 series was spotted on the test server just a few days back. A new animation engine and an added animated clock style were also revealed to be part of the latest One UI 8 custom skin.
