Samsung’s Galaxy A17 5G smartphone was launched in the Indian market in August last year, and now, over a year later, the brand has introduced its rebranded version as the Galaxy F70 5G. While the Google Play Console Supported Devices List had earlier hinted at this, the newly-launched device’s specifications have now also confirmed the same. However, differences can be seen in their software support, memory options, and pricing.

Speaking more, Samsung had promised six major Android OS upgrades and six years of security updates for the Galaxy A17 5G. However, for the Galaxy F70 5G, this has been reduced to four major Android OS upgrades and five years of security updates.
Additionally, the newly-launched Galaxy F70 5G still comes with the Android 15-based One UI 7.0 custom skin, just like the Galaxy A17 5G at launch. Considering the gap between their launches, Android 16 out of the box would have been a welcome addition.
Looking into their pricing, the Galaxy A17 5G was introduced at INR 18,999 for its 6GB/128GB memory variant. The same memory configuration of the Galaxy F70 5G is priced at INR 22,999, which is INR 4,000 higher than the Galaxy A17 5G’s launch price.
With launch offers, customers will be able to get the Galaxy F70 5G’s 6GB/128GB variant at INR 20,999, which, even after these offers remains INR 2,000 more expensive than the Galaxy A17 5G’s launch price, despite offering largely the same hardware and a shorter software support commitment.
Stay tuned for more updates.
