Previously, WhatsApp was revealed to be testing the standalone app for ipad users, and now, this new feature has officially been announced. Along with this, the Meta-owned messaging platform has also introduced a few more features across CarPlay, Android Auto, web, and desktop.

WhatsApp Announces Direct Account Registration on iPad, Revamped CarPlay and Android Auto Experience, and More

Starting with WhatsApp for iPad, users will now be able to create and register a WhatsApp account directly from the iPad app without having to link it to their smartphone. But first, you will have to download the WhatsApp app, register your account, and complete the setup process directly on the iPad.

Next, WhatsApp has also refreshed its CarPlay and Android Auto experience, with which you will be able to hear and respond to messages, make WhatsApp calls, view call history, and access your favourite contacts using hands-free controls.

WhatsApp in collaboration with Adbobe Acrobat is also bringing a new feature for web and desktop users, via which PDFs can be opened directly within the messaging platform without downloading them first. Furtherrmore, basic PDF editing options, including highlighting and adding annotations, will also be available within the chat.

Finally, WhatsApp users will also be able to share songs directly from Apple Music and Spotify to their WhatsApp Status.

Looking into the availability, WhatsApp confirms that these newly announced features are currently being rolled out to users. You can check the App Store or Google Play Store to see whether a new WhatsApp update is available for your device. If automatic updates are enabled, you can also check when the app was last updated to know whether the latest version has already been installed.
