Telegram App Ban Lifted in India; App Now Accessible Across Platforms, Message Editing Feature Still Restricted

We had earlier reported about the Telegram app being banned in India following the recently-held retest of the NEET UG 2026 examination. As previously reported, and as also confirmed by the Government of India, the ban on the app was expected to be removed after the 22nd of June 2026, and now, the same has been lifted.

Check out more about it below.

Telegram App Ban in India – Now Lifted

The Telegram app, which was earlier banned in India due to the NEET UG 2026 retest, has now become accessible again for users in the country. Users are now able to access the platform across the app as well as the web version.

Just to be sure, we also tried testing the access from our end, and the app is now working fine across all platforms. Along with this, its listing page is also back now on both the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.

However, the message editing feature is still missing from action and is expected to remain restricted until the 30th of June 2026. Most likely, the feature may again become available from the 1st of July 2026, but an official confirmation regarding the same is still awaited.

Also to note, earlier in the morning, some users had reported that they were still not able to access Telegram. However, by evening, the ban appears to have been completely lifted. A similar rollout may also happen for the message editing feature, which is likely to be available only after the 30th of June 2026.
