What is CSC Code on a Galaxy Device and How can Users Check it? Also, Here is a List of CSC Codes Based on Regions or Countries

This article will be taking readers through what a CSC code is on a Galaxy device and how users of Samsung’s Galaxy smartphones and tablets can check it on their devices. Moreover, a list of CSC codes based on regions and countries have also been added in this article for readers.
Read about these below.
What is CSC Code?
CSC code stands for ‘Country Specific Codes’ (also pointed out as Country Sales Code, Country Software Customization, & Consumer Software Customization) and it is based on this that Samsung rolls out firmware updates and features to users based on different regions and countries, at the same time also adhering to the rules and regulations of the particular place. This means, based on the CSC code, there will be region or country specific tweaks and modifications with respect to the features that are being provided to Galaxy smartphone and tablet users. For each firmware, there are two notable sections – PDA and CSC, and while PDA contains build number with global Android system changes, CSC consists of region or country specific wallpapers, WiFi calling, VoLTE, sounds, and maybe more.
How can Users Check it?
There are a few many ways that will help users to check the CSC code on their respective Galaxy device. One of the easiest ways is to check the ‘Software Information Menu’ on ‘About Phone’ in ‘Settings’. Dialing ‘*#1234#’ or accessing ‘Recovery Mode’ are two of the other ways. Speaking more, Samsung’s firmware has four binaries – ‘BL’, ‘AP’, ‘CP’, and ‘CSC’. There are two CSC files as well – ‘CSC’ or ‘Home CSC’. Moreover, the four main types of CSC are – ‘Open CSC’ (International Versions), ‘Carrier CSC’ (Carrier Specific), ‘Country CSC’ (Country or Region Specific), and ‘OEM CSC’ (Manufacturer or Distributor Specific). There is also something called multi-CSCs that combines primary and secondary CSC codes.
So, coming to the question – ‘How to check CSC code on a Galaxy device?’ Users with the above given methods can identify the firmware version and from which, the CSC code of the Galaxy device can be picked. For example, if the firmware version is ‘S918BOXM1AWC8’, the combination of the 6th, 7th, & 8th letters is the CSC code. In the given firmware version, ‘OXM’ is the CSC code. Just to add, the first five – ‘S918B’ is the model number of the device (Galaxy S23 Ultra), ‘1A’ is the bootloader version, while the last three figures – ‘WC8’ is the release date (year + month + date).
Speaking more, OXM is a multi-CSC code (not locked with a particular carrier) and it is paired with 68 secondary CSC codes respectively depending on the region or country. While looking at the service provider software version of the above spoken device via the software information page, it is revealed to be ‘SAOMC_SM-S918B_OXM_INS_13_0015INS/INS,INS//INS’. ‘INS’ is the secondary CSC or active CSC of the multi-CSC ‘OXM’, suggesting that this is meant for the Indian market.
