The Glorious moments of Indian Sports in 2021

Indian sports in 2021 has really made India proud. The phrase “Chak De India” has just put more glory to the winnings of India in all sport fields. Where on one side cricket couldn’t make it to world even after the players gave their best other fields won the best of awards here are some of the achievements of sports in 2021:
India finished 48th on the medal tally in Tokyo, its highest ranking in over four decades.
Achievement of India in Tokyo Olympics:
1. Indian Hockey team at Tokyo Olympics:
They were not born when India last won a medal at the Olympics. With a 5–4 victory over Germany, India won the bronze medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. This was a historic win, since the Indian Hockey team won a medal in the Olympics after a 41-year hiatus.
2. Weightlifting at Tokyo Olympics:
The Rio 2016 Olympics held high expectations for Mirabai Chanu. Despite her best efforts, she failed to make a single clean and jerk lift. At Tokyo 2020, the pressure was crushing. In the 49kg category, coached by Vijay Sharma, the amiable 26-year-old from Manipur won silver with a smile as he handled the heavy weights.
3. Boxing at Tokyo Olympics
Covid-19 impacted her preparation. However, the fighter from Assam made the most out of the situation. Maintaining her fitness required her to lift LPG cylinders and work in paddy fields. With her victory in Tokyo, Lovlina proved she could fight fearlessly against the best. With a height of 5 feet, 9 inches tall, she fashioned an amazing medal story with her long reach.
4. Badminton at Tokyo Olympics
In the early stages in Tokyo, she looked below her best. But like a finely-tuned precision instrument, Pusarla Venkata Sindhu hit the perfect notes as the tournament peaked. She simply swatted aside Chinese He Bing Jiao 21-13, 21-15 in the bronze medal playoff to add a second Olympic medal in her kitty. When it’s PV Sindhu, once is not enough.
5. The best of all was the gold medal won by “NEERAJ CHOPRA”. The boy from Haryana made his country proud by grabbing the gold in javelin. Following his golden throw, millions became emotional on hearing the national anthem at the Olympics for the first time since Beijing 2008.
6. The Paralympics in Tokyo brought 19 medals home for India – 5 gold, 8 silver, 6 bronze. It is the first time an Indian woman has won two Paralympic medals. Her name was Avani Lekhara.
Achievements of Indian sports other than Olympics
7. Gabba Test Win
Towards the end of the grueling tour Down Under, India were walking on crutches. A group of unknown players ended Australia’s legendary stranglehold at fortress Gabba by registering arguably the greatest Test victory in history. As a result, India completed a back-to-back series victory over Australia in Brisbane.

8. Sunil Chhetri’s Record

The Indian captain Sunil Chhetri will forever be remembered as one of the most prolific scorers in international football. In the active scorers list, he’s tied with Lionel Messi for second place, and he’s only behind Cristiano Ronaldo.

9. Chennai Super Kings Win IPL 2021

Chennai Super Kings won the IPL in UAE in 2021 with a memorable performance. Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s men, mocked for their line-up of ‘old’ players, demonstrated that experience matters even in an ever-evolving format that demands powerplay in its finest form. Moreover, this win helped CSK close in on Mumbai Indians’ five-win record in IPL.

10. Mithali Raj Feat

At her age of 39, Mithali Raj is still one of the most prominent figures in Indian women’s cricket. She overtook former England captain Charlotte Edwards (10,273) as the most run-getter in women’s cricket in 2021. In the third England-India one-day international on July 3, Mithali Raj made the feat. Mithali Raj now has 10,454 international runs.

Conclusion
With these memorable wins we conclude the 2021 and we can be proud to be born in a country where sports is also considered as a priority. We are grateful to the athletes too who made our India proud.
