Lava ‘Made in India’ Smartphones is all set to launch on January 7th


Lava sent an invitation to the January 7 event to see the unveiling of new smartphones from the Indian retailer. Since last week, the Indian company has been teasing the launch, and today it has officially announced that the forthcoming smartphones will have “evolved and dynamic engineering.” The company has also classified Lava BeU smartphones, designed with women buyers in mind, on its website. Lava has previously reported to Gadgets 360 that it will launch a total of five tablets, including Lava BeU, in January.

As per the invitation posted by Lava and the tweet from the official Twitter account, the company will launch new smartphones at 12:00 p.m. on January 7th (noon). The event will be streaming live via Facebook and YouTube.

Price in India

Lava first teased the launch of its BeU smartphone with a tweet on December 23rd. It came a day after the launch of the Lava BeU with dual rear cameras in India. The company has already announced that the price of the smartphone in India has been set at Rs. 6,888 for its single 2GB + 32GB capacity version. The phone is also on the official website. The smartphone, exclusively for women, can be bought in Rose Pink color.

Alongside Lava BeU, the company is preparing to launch four new smartphones and a smart fitness tracker on 7 January, verified by Gadgets 360. Lava also said that the new smartphones would be priced between 5,000 and 15,000 and will be available via both online and offline platforms.


The dual-SIM (Nano) Lava BeU runs on Android 10 (Go edition) and boasts a 6.08-inch HD+ display (720×1,560 pixels) with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The screen is covered by 2.5D curved glass and has a waterdrop-like notch. Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by an octa-core SoC clocked at 1.6GHz, combined with 2GB of DDR4 RAM. 32GB of onboard storage is expandable via a MicroSD slot (up to 256GB).

For imaging, Lava BeU comes with a dual rear camera system that features a 13-megapixel main sensor with an f/1.85 lens and a 2-megapixel secondary sensor. The handset also features an 8-megapixel selfie snapper on the front, with an f/2.2 aperture.

Connectivity options involve 4G LTE, 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, 4.2 Bluetooth, GPS/A-GPS, Micro-USB, and 3.5mm headphone port. Lava BeU has a 4.060mAh lithium-polymer battery pack. The handset even comes with a fingerprint scanner on the rear. It measures 155.5×73.3×9.82mm and weighs 175.8 g.
