Why did Musk’s Twitter deal become so contentious?

The circumstances came after several twists and turns since Musk announced his intention to buy a 100 percent stake in Twitter on the first day. Initially, it was assumed that the deal involving the world’s richest man and one of the most powerful social media platforms had been reached amicably. However, much of the drama has taken place on Twitter, with Musk raising concerns about the fake accounts. He frequently took to Twitter to express his displeasure with his decision to acquire the platform.

Twitter reportedly agreed to share all of its information on spam “bot accounts” – automated accounts that typically promote scams and misinformation – in June 2021. When confronted with the data, Musk backed out of the deal. Although Twitter claimed it has approximately 229 million accounts, nearly 5% of which are fake or bots, Musk disputed the claims and claimed that 20% or more accounts are bogus, without providing any evidence.
