Can we trust Russian Antivirus Company Kaspersky Lab’s?

On Tuesday, Germany’s cyber security office cautioned users of Kaspersky Lab’s anti-virus software that it poses a serious danger of a successful hacking attempt. The reason given is its ties with the Russian government.

According to the BSI agency, Russian government agents might force the Russia-based cybersecurity firm to infiltrate IT systems abroad, or agents could use its equipment to launch cyberattacks without its knowledge.

In a statement, Kaspersky stated it was a privately owned corporation with no ties to the Russian government. It said that the BSI’s warning was politically motivated and that it was in contact with the organisation to clarify the situation.

The BSI warning comes as Russia’s invasion of Ukraine intensifies, with Russian forces bombarding Ukraine’s capital.

German enterprises and government agencies that control essential infrastructure, according to the BSI, are particularly vulnerable to a cyber attack.

Now the question is can we trust Kaspersky Lab’s anti-virus software?

According to the Anonymous group (@Anonymous_Link) the Russian based antivirus firm shouldn’t be trusted at all. The claims further state that Why is mil.ru hosted on your infrastructure and how can people trust Kaspersky when it is clearly affiliated with the Russian government? They have not condemned the invasion of Ukraine.
