Yesterday, Amazon introduced the option to text with Alexa for Shopping to get their shopping done even more conveniently.
Texting with Alexa for Shopping
Customers with access can conveniently text Alexa for Shopping with all kinds of shopping requests. Send a text to start a weekly grocery order, search for a birthday gift you need by Saturday, share a photo of the outfit you spotted while scrolling and ask for similar looks.
Alexa for shopping takes it from there, searching for products, comparing options and messaging back with suggestions. When you’re ready, it can add items to your cart and seamlessly complete the purchase on your behalf. The more customers use it, the more it learns their personal preferences, shopping habits, and tastes- delivering an increasingly personalised experience over time.
The contact will appear in your phone as “Alexa Shopping.” Just text it to get more of your shopping done quickly and conveniently.
Customers can text the way they normally would, and Alexa for Shopping takes it from there. It can:
- Hand off your to-do list
- Simplify grocery shopping
- Reorder in seconds
- Personalise your experience
- Send a photo
- Track deals and prices
- Manage your lists
- Check on orders
- Discover products from across the web
- Get notified about new releases
- Compare products
- Check price history
Alexa for Shopping will remember what you were working on, what you’ve told it, and what you prefer, so every interaction picks up where the last one left off.
Customers can also set up alerts that monitor Amazon and the broader web and notify them when something they care about happens, automate recurring shopping tasks, and use auto-buy to complete a purchase when the price is right.
Availability
A subset of US customers will receive a text message inviting them to try the experience. The option to text Alexa for Shopping will roll out to millions more customers in the coming weeks.
To get started, simply accept the terms, link your phone number, and start shopping- all from your text messages. Customers who haven’t received an invitation can sign up to get news and offers from Amazon by text on the landing page and will be among the first to know when more invites are sent.
Amazon is rolling out the ability for a request started over text to carry over to Alexa for Shopping in the Amazon Shopping app, on Amazon.com, and on Alexa-enabled devices and vice versa.
