We recently covered the news regarding Samsung rolling out the One UI 8.5 update for its Galaxy S26 series smartphones in India and other regions, carrying the July 2026 Android security patch. In the same coverage, we also mentioned that the fourth beta update of One UI 9 is expected to be released soon. A tipster had further claimed that Samsung would begin rolling out the One UI 9 Beta 4 update following the release of the July software update.
Read more about the update below.
Samsung One UI 9 – Expected Release Date, Features, and Supported Devices
While there is no definitive rollout date available for the stable One UI 9 update yet, Samsung is expected to officially unveil its next-generation software version at the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event. The event is tipped to take place on July 22nd, 2026, where the South Korean tech giant is also expected to launch the Galaxy Z Fold 8 series and Galaxy Z Flip 8 smartphones, along with its new Galaxy Watch models and more products.
Moving on to its features, One UI 9 is tipped to arrive with a new Secure Lock feature designed to prevent unauthorized access to the device. It is also expected to feature a revamped and modular Quick Settings panel, independently adjustable sound and brightness sliders, enhanced AI integrations, improved lock screen widgets, and advanced customizable multi-finger gestures.
Furthermore, the upcoming software version is expected to debut new Galaxy AI capabilities and accessibility tools such as Text Spotlight for enlarging text displayed on the screen. In another report that we previously covered, it was also revealed that Samsung may introduce a real-time network speed indicator feature with the One UI 9 update.
Samsung Voice Recorder App – New One UI 9 Features
The Samsung Voice Recorder app is also tipped to receive several new features with One UI 9. These include cloud-based transcription, a refreshed user interface with animated waveforms, improved recording storage management, and the option to export recordings in audio formats such as MP3 and WAV.
Earlier, the Voice Recorder app generated transcripts using on-device AI, while cloud processing was limited to creating recording summaries. With One UI 9, users are expected to be able to upload recordings to Samsung’s servers and generate transcripts using cloud-based AI.
A new Manage Storage section is also expected to automatically organise recordings into categories such as Large Recordings, Short Recordings, Old Recordings, and Spam/Scam Calls.
Home Up v18.0.00.24 Update
Samsung has also released the Home Up v18.0.00.24 update in Korea for devices running One UI 9 based on Android 17. Although the update is reportedly available for One UI 8.5 users as well, they are advised not to install it, as the Home Up app may malfunction.
The update brings official One UI 9 support, Dock Background customisation, multi-finger gestures, a DIY home screen auto-arrange feature, and a new Sticker Action feature. Users can configure gestures using two, three, four, or even five fingers and assign different actions to each gesture.
Currently, the One UI 9 beta program is reportedly available only for the Galaxy S26 series smartphones, and it is expected to be expanded to other eligible Galaxy devices later this year. Samsung has not officially revealed the complete list of supported devices yet. However, a list prepared by SamMobile has highlighted several Galaxy smartphones and tablets that are expected to receive the update.
