WhatsApp introduces new feature; control who can view your online status

Mark Zuckerberg owned messaging app ‘WhatsApp’ has introduced three new privacy-related features in which a user can hide the status of there online presence while using the application, exit groups silently and stop screenshots for images.

WhatsApp head Will Cathcart and Zuckerberg announced the new features on Tuesday, August 9.

As far as the hiding the online status is concerned, the application offers you to hide your online status. While either users were able to only hide their ‘Last Seen’ status, the company is now allowing you to hide their ‘Last Seen’ status, the company allows to hide ‘Online’ indicator as well.

You can either completely hide the last seen online status from everyone, only unknown numbers, specific contacts, or from nobody. WhatsApp has given you that liberty to choose with whom you want to share your ‘Online’ indicator.

The feature will add a new “Who can see when I’m online” option under the last seen settings, with two options – ‘Everyone’ and ‘Same as Last Seen.’

Mark Zuckerberg, the Meta CEO, said in a Facebook post ,the aim is to eventually make WhatsApp “as private and secure as face-to-face conversations,”

Moreover, the feature will be accessible across all desktops and mobile by the end of month.

WhatsApp has also shared a video on Twitter, by announcing the new privacy feature of online status.
