Samsung Showcases its Tri-Fold Flagship Phone at the APEC CEO Summit; Design Renders Also Shared Online

Following the debut of the Huawei Mate XT which came as the very first tri-fold smartphone for consumers, the Huawei Mate XTs was officially introduced early last month in China. While Huawei still remains to be the only brand to have unveiled consumer tri-fold phones, Samsung has had its tri-fold flagship in works for quite some time and we have come across multiple updates regarding it.

Now, the brand at the APEC CEO Summit that is being held in South Korean has showcased its upcoming tri-fold device. Additionally, the design renders of the tri-fold have also been shared online via another source. Check out more about these latest updates below.

Samsung’s New Tri-Fold Flagship Phone Showcased

It was at a side event held at the Gyeongju Expo Park Air Dome as part of the ongoing APEC CEO Summit that Samsung showcased its tri-fold flagship, however no one got to touch it or take it up in their hands to get a feel of it as the device was placed inside a glass display case. In terms of design, as previously noted, unlike the dual-fold flagships that have already been introduced by many brands and available in plenty to customers, Samsung’s Tri-Fold has two hinges (inward folding as revealed earlier), and its length is quite longer than the width making it more like a tablet when it is completely unfolded.

Regarding the specifications, the display is mentioned to be roughly 6.5″, and it can be expanded to up to 10″ (9.96″ as revealed earlier), meaning it is comparable to a large tablet device. Just to add, a previous update had also suggested its weight to be 298 gm. Its alleged 3C listing also pointed to a 25W wired fast charge support too. NFC connectivity support will also be there as per reported.

The tipster @UniverseIce who is known for sharing updates regarding Samsung’s upcoming flagships has also shared the design renders of the tri-fold via the X platform. We are able to locate the punch-hole selfie camera, volume rockers + power button within an inward portion at the right side panel, and the slightly-thick symmetrical bezels. The side panels are seemingly very thin, and the device is featured in a Black color. Also, the tipster notes it as ‘Galaxy Z Trifold’ (however, the animation files that were revealed previously mentioned it as ‘Multifold 7’).

About the launch, it is said to be launched within this year in 2025, but only in a few regions like South Korea and China (where there is interest towards foldables). The initial production volume of the device is expected to be 50,000 to 1,00,000 as per what has been reported, and it might probably carry a price tag of about 3 million won (a similar range*).

Stay tuned for more updates.
