HP to start producing its laptops, desktops, and monitors at its Chennai factory under Make In India Campaign

CHENNAI: HP announced on Wednesday that it will begin producing laptops, desktops, and monitors at its Chennai factory.

The company’s Make in India product line will be expanded by Move.

 

According to the statement, certain of the products are eligible for the government’s public procurement order and will be offered on the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) platform to suit the needs of government departments and other consumers.

 

“HP stated today that it will manufacture a variety of PC products in India, including laptops. HP has begun producing numerous kinds of laptops, desktop towers, and mini desktops at the Flex plant in Sriperumbudur, near Chennai, as part of the Centre’s Make in India initiative “, according to a statement released by the business.

 

HP India Market managing director Ketan Patel stated that the company has worked closely with India since its inception.

“As India achieved considerable progress and placed a greater emphasis on digital transformation, we collaborated with the Indian government and state governments in their quest to empower millions of residents and improve the quality of life in their communities.”

HP said that this was the first time the company has produced such a diverse selection of laptops in India, including HP EliteBooks, HP ProBooks, and HP G8 series notebooks.

HP also added new kinds of desktop mini towers, tiny desktops, compact form factor desktops, and all-in-one personal computers to its locally made commercial PCs.

By partnering with Flex to manufacture commercial PCs, the company stated it has greatly expanded its operations and reaffirmed its commitment to the Make in India project.

 

“The Flex facility’s proximity to the Chennai port helps operational efficiency and raw material sourcing for producing laptops and other PC products,” according to the announcement.
