Tesla cuts Model Y price by nearly Rs 9 lakh in India; Model Y Premium Long Range RWD variant discontinued

Last year, Tesla introduced its Model Y EV in the Indian market. This EV arrived with two variants: Rear Wheel Drive and Long-range Rear Wheel Drive, priced at Rs 59,89,000 and Rs 67,89,000, respectively.

This year, Tesla has introduced its Model Y L in India, and after the launch of this model, the company has reorganised the variants of its Model Y EV. Tesla has reduced the price of the Model Y Premium Rear Wheel Drive by Rs 9 lakh. It is now priced at Rs 50,89,000 (ex-showroom).

Apart from this, the company has also discontinued the Model Y Premium Long-Range Rear Wheel Drive variant. Therefore, the Model Y now has only one variant in the Indian market. The Model Y Premium RWD is available to order in India, and the deliveries will start in July 2026.

As per the company, Model Y Premium RWD buyers can achieve Rs 2,00,002 savings every month in fuel and maintenance alone. Mid-size SUV and sedan owners get an opportunity to upgrade to a Tesla with an effective ownership cost of Rs 19,990 per month.

2026 Model Y RWD

With the changed pricing, the company has termed Model Y RWD as a new variant. The new variant gets an all-black interior with a fully blacked-out headliner and premium trim. Consumers can alternatively choose a Zen Grey interior finish. This variant is claimed to reach from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.9 seconds and offers a 500 km range (WLTP). With 15 minutes of charge, it can cover 238 km.

The front fascia features sleek, clean lines for a strong front profile. A spacious cabin seats five adults. Front and rear touchscreens make all your climate and entertainment settings accessible from any seat. HEPA filtration improves air quality. There is a 16-inch infotainment screen and power-folding seats.

Safety features include Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Departure Avoidance, advanced driver-assistance features, front-facing cameras and Blind spot monitoring.
