OnePlus has finally launched the much awaited OnePlus 12 smartphone in China. It is powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset paired with up to LPDDR5X RAM and 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage. Its pricing starts at CNY 4,299 and will go on sale on December 11th in China. During the launch event that took place today, OnePlus said “OnePlus 12 is the only one in the industry that simultaneously achieves the ultimate in SVM in both 3Pulse and 1 Pulse DC eye protection and dimming modes”.
Over this Wang TengThomas, the General Manager of Redmi wrote on Weibo that he can’t tell whether this is being marketed as a technology product or a health product. He further said, “ SVM value is a measurement standard in the lighting industry, not a consensus standard in the field of screen eye protection”.
And if the users are concerned about the low SVM value, he said he can roll out an OTA next week thus bringing down the SVM value lower than other companies which is not technically very difficult.
As per Wang eye protection needs in-depth research in the medical field. One thing is very clear that Wang is not happy from OnePlus for marketing a thing that can easily be optimized via OTA. And highlights how OnePlus is using health products for marketing according to him.
