Facebook’s news service planned to be launched in UK, India, France and 2 more countries

Social media giant Facebook Inc is planning to launch its news service in the UK, Germany, India, France, and Brazil in the coming months.

Social media giant Facebook Inc, which has around 2.7 billion monthly active users, is planning to launch its news service in the UK, Germany, India, France, and Brazil in the coming months. It introduced this feature in the US last year.

The news service aims to ensure users have access to quality news sources that are free from misinformation that has plagued the platform in recent years.

Publishers have to register as news pages and abide by the company’s publisher guidelines as well as community standards, which means they are prohibited from posting any kind of misinformation.

For the uninitiated, Facebook has come under fire for its lax approach to fake news reports and disinformation campaigns, which many believe affected the results of the 2016 US presidential election, won by Donald Trump.
