Facebook submits comments on data portability to trade panel ahead of FTC hearing

Facebook on Friday submitted its comments regarding data portability to the Federal Trade Commission ahead of hearing on the issue on September 22.

The social media giant pushed for a law to make it easier for users to transfer photos as well as videos to a rival tech platform.

It should be mentioned here that the Federal Trade Commission is going to organise a public workshop on September 22 in order to examine the potential benefits and challenges to consumers and competition raised by data portability.

“Data portability gives consumers more control over their data, allowing them to move data from one service to another or to themselves,” FTC said.
