Indian Cricket team Captain Virat kohli and Bollywood actor Anushka Sharma are getting getting rape threats for their 9 months old daughter after the two successive defeats faced by India in T20 World Cup 2021.
It all started when India faced defeat against Pakistan in the opening match and Indian player Mohammad Shami was subjected to abuse and trolling because people blamed his religion for defeat questioning his patriotism.
Virat kohli favoring his team mate stated in a pre-match press, “Attacking someone over their religion is the most pathetic thing one can do as a human. That is a very sacred and personal thing. People take out their frustration because they have no understanding of what we do”.
This led to hateful comments against Virat kohli and then later on his little daughter Vamika was attacked by threats. The rape threat was issued by now-deleted account @Criccrazyygirl.
Now the Delhi Commission of Women is looking into the matter and issued a notice against the threats. Swati Maliwal, the Chairperson of Women Body showing her anger and concern tweeted that the way the 9 month old was threatened is “very shameful”. She added,” The team has made us proud thousands of times, why this silliness in defeat”.
The Delhi Women Panel urged the police to share the information like the copy of FIR, details of accused and detention and specially a detailed ” Action Taken Report” in the case.
The notice sent to Police stated, “If no accused has been arrested, please provide the details of steps taken by Delhi Police to arrest the accused.”
It is now becoming a hurtful trend as Ms Dhoni’s daughter also faced rape threat after his low performance in IPL 2020. Actions need to be taken against such people and Delhi Police is working to make sure of it.
