Vivo unveiled its latest OriginOS 7 operating system, based on Android 17 OS in China on 16th September 2026 during the Vivo Developer Conference 2026. The brand later confirmed that its global unveiling would take place on 21st September 2026, the same day as the China launch of the Vivo X500 series, which became the first smartphone series from Vivo to debut with the new operating system.
OriginOS 7 has now officially been unveiled for global markets, with Vivo revealing its performance improvements, cross-device connectivity features, AI tools and personalisation options.

OriginOS 7 – Features
OriginOS 7 introduces the next-generation Origin Smooth Engine, which is designed to improve graphics processing, memory management and system scheduling. Ultra-Core Computing dynamically allocates processing resources depending on the workload.
Vivo claims that these improvements reduce app cold-start time by 10% and improve app-page switching by 11%. Memory Fusion is also said to offer 60% greater memory reclamation and can free up to 25GB of storage on a device with 256GB of internal storage.
Dual Rendering is claimed to improve rendering efficiency by 14.4%, and with Origin Workbench, users can operate up to five active applications within a unified workspace.
To note, Vivo claims that OriginOS 7 has completed its 72-month anti-ageing laboratory test, which is designed to evaluate the operating system’s smoothness over six years of use.
Origin Animation introduces physics-based system animations, while Fluid Motion allows interface elements to stretch, bounce and merge depending on the user’s touch movements. Spring Animation offers consistent motion effects across the system and supported applications, while Seamless Interaction improves multidirectional scrolling.
Speaking of cross-device connectivity, OriginOS 7 supports compatible Apple Watch models for receiving notifications and synchronising health information. AirPods users can also view battery information through Origin Island and access Spatial Audio on supported devices.
Vivo Office Kit enables task handoffs, note synchronisation and file transfers between Vivo devices and iPad, Mac and Windows systems. Additionally, users can access their iCloud photos and files through Vivo File Manager.
OriginOS 7 also introduces Jovi as a cross-device personal AI agent. Jovi can retrieve files from a connected computer, summarise their contents and send the results to the user’s smartphone. It also supports scheduled tasks, including preparing reports and organising files.
Snap Note can convert images of handwritten notes, whiteboards and presentation slides into editable rich-text documents. Jovi Security records actions performed autonomously by the AI agent and requires user authorisation before completing important steps.
Several new personalisation features have also been introduced. Wiggle Theme adds liquid-style interactions to personal photos, while Glint Theme uses the device’s gyroscope to create changing light and shadow effects.
StickIt allows users to create layered collages using photos and Live Photos across the lock screen, home screen and Always-On Display. Pet Pals adds interactive companion themes that respond to device movement, charging, music playback and changes in time.
Preview Program and Rollout
The OriginOS 7 Preview Program began on 21st September 2026 for the Vivo X300 Pro and select iQOO devices. The initial preview regions include India, Thailand and Malaysia.
Speaking more, OriginOS 7 will later become available for the Vivo X500 series, along with new Vivo X Fold and V-series smartphones. The exact availability of its features may vary depending on the device, market and region.
Vivo is expected to reveal a detailed global rollout schedule for OriginOS 7 in the coming weeks.
