Samsung Introduces its New TRM 7M-Parameter Model, Setting a New Breakthrough in the AI Tech Sphere

In a new turn of events, Samsung has brought out a new tiny 7M-parameter AI model – TRM (Tiny Recursive Model), and it has actually outperformed other leading giants on the AI tech sphere. Thus this new innovation suggests that more brands should try to focus on clever architecture instead of massive scaling.

Read more about it below.

Samsung’s New TRM AI Model Outperforms Leading Competitors, Thanks to its Clever Architecture

This new TRM AI model that has now been introduced has been developed by the Samsung researcher – Alexia Jolicoeur-Martineau, and it was developed with an aim to prove that clever architecture is more important than focusing on sheer size. Speaking more, this TRM model has been made with 2 layers that make use of recursive loops, and this is to mimic step-by-step thinking. Notably, it has also been trained on around 1K examples and has acquired 45% accuracy on the ARC-AGI benchmark. When compared with other competitor products such as Google’s Gemini 2.5 Pro (acquired only 37.0% accuracy), it offers better performance while being 10,000 times more efficient than the latter. [Just to add, OpenAI’s o3-mini-high and DeepSeek R1 respectively acquired only 34.5% and 15.8% accuracy.]

It has to be noted that this ‘less is more’ approach that Samsung has now adopted in turn reveals that the more AI tech companies should start prioritizing more on clever architectures over massive scaling, thereby bringing cheaper and greener AI on small devices in the future. However, reportedly it is puzzle-focused and is designed to test abstract AI reasoning, and for broader applications, it still requires more development.

Samsung Introduces TRM - X Post

In related news, Samsung had just recently also announced its strategic partnership with OpenAI with an aim to achieve more advancements in the global AI infrastructure. Also to add, a new 200MP ISOCELL HP5 camera sensor was unveiled by the brand, and camera-focused smartphone makers like OPPO and Realme are believed to bring it to the market with their future products. Moreover, the next Samsung Galaxy M17 5G is scheduled to launch tomorrow on the 10th of October 2025 in India.
