Apple’s new innovative invention : Personalized voices for Text Messaging

We all have sent voice notes on Whatsapp and Instagram while chatting with our families and loved ones and by reading the headline you might be thinking that Apple’s this invention would be something like that. If yes, then you are totally wrong.

Patently Apple has shared this invention on its Twitter account.

US Patent & Trademark Office has today published a patent application from Apple that was filed in late October 2022 under application number 17/973395. The application relates to personalized voices for text messaging. The application talks about using a new voice modeling system wherein someone receiving your text message won’t have to read it but rather hear it in the sender’s original voice.

There are a few figures shared by the US Patent & Trademark Office to explain the voice modeling system.

The first figure above shows system #800 for operating a digital assistant and for utilizing personalized voices for text messaging. The second figure shows a user input is received corresponding to a request to provide access to the voice model. The third figure demonstrates the voice model of the first user being received at the second device associated with the second users such as device #1000 and the last figure shows process 1100 for operating a digital assistant, and in particular for utilizing personalized voices for text messaging. In the figure, it is also seen that a person who is sending the message will be asked if they want to share their voice and the user receiving the message will be given the option to choose whether they want to receive the sender’s voice or not.

Sounds interesting right? Though there has been development in technology day by day still techniques for delivering received message content generally do not offer personalization like the read-out of a text message. Communication between users of electronic devices has become an integral part of day-to-day lives in this era of social media and instant messaging. Apple’s this invention will enhance users’ experience, eliminating the need for users to read the received message.
