In the Jamaat-e-Islami (JEI) Terror Funding Case the NIA searches multiple locations in Jammu and Kashmir
In RC-03/2021/NIA/DLI, NIA conducted searches at 06 locations in the J& K districts of Baramullah, Budgam, and Srinagar on (16.06.2022).
The case concerns the activities of members of the JeI who have been collecting funds domestically and internationally through donations, primarily in the form of Zakat, Mowda, and Bait-ul-Mal, ostensibly to support charity and other welfare activities, but are instead using the funds for violent and secessionist activities. Through well-organized networks of JeI cadres, cash raised by JeI are also channelled to outlawed terrorist organisations such as Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM), Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), and others. JeI has also been recruiting new members (Rukuns) in J&K to participate in disruptive separatist actions and inspiring impressionable youth in Kashmir. On 05.02.2021, NIA suo-moto registered the case.
Various incriminating documents and electronic devices were recovered during searches conducted today at the homes of JeI office bearers and members.
The case is still under investigation.
