Want to pay rent with bitcoin in Airbnb, well now you can!

Airbnb may soon accept cryptocurrency payments, according to CEO Brian Chesky, who disclosed in a Twitter survey that the top feature people want in 2022 is the ability to pay for bookings in bitcoin.

Aribnb, a popular lodging marketplace based in the United States, may soon accept bitcoin payments, according to CEO Brian Chesky in a tweet. Chesky disclosed on Twitter that the #1 feature people want in 2022 is the ability to pay for reservations in cryptocurrency.

“What would you launch if Airbnb could launch anything in 2022?” Chesky tweeted. He also said that he received 4,000 suggestions, the most popular of which is for his company to accept cryptocurrency payments, with the caveat that “crypto payments encompasses a number of token ideas.”

Clear pricing displays, a guest reward programme, updated cleaning rates, more long-term stays and discounts, better customer service, and commercial spaces are among the other proposals (kitchens, co-working). “We are also looking into this one as well,” the CEO remarked, while expressly stating that Airbnb is exploring into commercial premises.

There are currently over 5.6 million listings on Airbnb throughout the world. According to the company’s website, since its inception in 2007, Airbnb has served over 1 billion clients and over 4 million hosts have listed their properties. Visa, MasterCard, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and PayPal are presently accepted as payment methods by Airbnb.

This isn’t the first time Chesky has mentioned cryptocurrency. In November of last year, an executive from Airbnb was asked if the company was considering taking cryptocurrencies. “We’re definitely looking into it,” he answered. Absolutely. Cryptography is certainly undergoing a revolution, similar to the change in travel.”

“The key is when average people grasp how the new technology enhanced their lives, beyond the first thrill,” the CEO continued. I’m particularly enthusiastic about several applications that ordinary people could utilise to improve their daily lives.”

Meanwhile, AMC Theatres, a US movie theatre chain, recently announced that it will soon be able to accept cryptocurrency Shiba Inu (SHIB) as a form of payment for online ticket purchases.
