Zee5 restores its device limits for its FIFA World Cup 2026 plans in India after facing backlash

The FIFA World Cup 2026 tournament begins today and will run until July 19. The football fans are already full of excitement. Earlier, there was confusion among Indian fans related to the broadcasting rights, but it was recently announced that Zee Entertainment has secured the rights to air the tournament in India.

Matches will be broadcast on Zee Entertainment’s newly launched sports network through the following channels: Unite8 Sports 1, Unite8 Sports 1 HD, Unite8 Sports 2, and Unite8 Sports 2 HD. Meanwhile, all FIFA World Cup 2026 matches will be available for live streaming on the Zee5 platform.

There were two FIFA World Cup 2026 plans available on Zee5: a Rs 799 three-month plan that supported three devices and a Rs 1699 annual plan that supported 4 devices. Ahead of the tournament getting started, Zee5 faced a huge backlash online from subscribers who purchased the subscriptions expecting support for 3 or 4 devices, but after payment, subscribers discovered the account limit had been changed to 1 device (Rs 799)/ 2 devices (Rs 1699).

Numerous users raised the same concern over the X platform, while some users also filed complaints claiming the advertisement was a scam. Well, after facing this backlash, Zee5 has now restored the device limit to 3 devices in the Rs 799 plan and to 4 devices in the Rs 1699 plan.
