Samsung Wallet v6.6.97 – New Features

The Samsung Wallet v6.6.97 update introduces a refreshed design featuring a floating bottom navigation bar, bringing the application in line with the visual language of One UI 8.5. The global changelog further points out performance improvements, minor bug fixes, and improved stability while accessing digital cards, transit passes, and supported digital keys. The redesigned interface has also been spotted by users through the Samsung Community.

Coming to the new India-specific features, Samsung Wallet now supports biometric authentication for UPI payments of up to INR 5,000, which will allow eligible users to authenticate supported transactions using their device’s biometric security instead of following the previous authentication process.

Additionally, the app will now support the new UPI Payment Interface API 2.0, which is expected to make UPI payments through Samsung Wallet faster.

Now users will be allowed to change the service region of Samsung Wallet without modifying the CSC of their Galaxy smartphone, as it now has a new ‘Change region’ option built within it.

However, Samsung has not yet published detailed documentation regarding the scope of this option. Therefore, it is currently unclear whether it only changes the Wallet service region or also affects region-specific cards, payment services, the Samsung account country, and other features.

It must also be noted that the Samsung Wallet v6.6.97 update is being rolled out in batches and may take some time to reach all eligible devices, as also indicated by a Samsung Community manager in a recent community thread. Stay tuned for more updates!
