Instagram Expands “Your Algorithm” Controls to the Explore Page

Following the January rollout of Reels customization, Meta is now expanding its “Your Algorithm” feature to the Instagram Explore page which will allow users to manually pick their favourite topics to show up on their Explore page.

What’s New?

Previously, this “Your Algorithm” feature was only available within the Reels tab, and now the same has been expanded to the explore page as well. Users can select multiple topics—such as “Painting,” “Pop Music,” or “Thrifting”—which will tell the AI what they want to see, rather than relying solely on their browsing history.

How to Customize Your Explore Feed?

You can customize it in two ways:

First, open up your Instagram App, click on the magnifier icon, which will open up your explore page. At the top of the Explore page, you will find the “Plus (+) Button” next to the “for you” tab. You can add interests; simply tap the “+” sign.

The second option is via the  Settings icon, which can be accessed via the toggle button in the top-right corner of the Explore page. A menu will pop up where you can manage your favourite topics.

However, upon checking my own Instagram app, I wasn’t able to see this change yet, most likely because it is in the rollout phase. And as per what has been mentioned, the rollout of this feature is currently limited to only the English-speaking countries at the moment.
