According to a Google spokesperson in August, Truth Social, which debuted in the United States in the Apple App Store in February, was previously unavailable in the Google Play Store due to insufficient content moderation. Most smartphone users cannot download Truth Social without using Google or Apple stores. Android phones account for roughly 40% of the smartphone market in the United States.
Upon visiting the Truth SOcial website, it still states Coming Soon on the google play store. Trump founded Truth Social after he was barred from Twitter over his tweets on Jan. 6, 2021, when his followers stormed the U.S. Capitol in a violent attempt to block Congress from confirming Joe Biden’s victory in the presidential election.
“Apps may be distributed on Google Play provided they comply with our developer guidelines, including the requirement to effectively moderate user-generated content and remove objectionable posts such as those that incite violence,” a Google spokesman said to Axios.
So far the app is not available on the Google Play Stor but will soon be available. However, if you are an iPhone user you can download it via the apple store.
