YouTube has been introducing various new tools and features for creators to increase their engagement on the platform. Previously, creators were able to customise thumbnails for their videos to hook their viewers, but now they will also be able to do the same for YouTube Shorts.
YouTube has introduced new updates that can help make the thumbnail process easier for Shorts and long-form videos.
New updates to make the thumbnail process easier
- YouTube Partner Program creators can start uploading custom thumbnails for Shorts. This gives creators more control over how their Shorts look, making it easier for viewers to discover their content and know what to expect. This feature will expand to more creators over time.
- You can also now choose from three suggested thumbnail frames for Shorts on desktop, just like you’ve been able to do for long-form videos. You can still pick any frame from the video through the YouTube app on mobile.
- Thumbnail generation is introduced directly into Ask Studio for long-form videos. Simply ask for a thumbnail for your latest video. Then adjust elements like colours and layouts by chatting with Ask Studio. The thumbnail created will be tailored to your video’s specific themes and to your specific style.
