Shockingly, Google Play Store now has a fake app that impersonates an Indian Government app listed on its platform. Along with a good rating, the app is also offering a subscription plan too.

Call History – A Fake App Now on Play Store
As mentioned, there is now a fake app called ‘Call History’ listed on Google’s Play Store, and it seems to have impersonated the nature of an Indian Government app to gain the attention of users. Surprisingly, even though it is a fake app, it has managed to secure 4.6 stars, with more than 1,00,000 ratings. There are subscription plans too like Basic, Refundable, and Standard that are being offered at respective price points of INR 274, INR 462, and INR 382.
Looking more into the app details, the app which currently is in version 1.3 was released on the 5th of September 2025 and was last updated on the 7th of October 2025 (early last month). The required OS version is mentioned to be Android 8.1 and over. As of now, 1,00,000+ users have downloaded the app as well.
It should be noted that this is a serious issue and it is already high time for Google to take the necessary action quickly. Moreover, when such a fake app gets this much attention and people start relying on it for their daily needs, it poses a huge security risk and concern too.
