Here is how you can edit a tweet but there is a catch

The biggest change to Twitter since it became extensively used as a forum for information exchange, even by governments, is the addition of a tool to edit tweets. In the upcoming weeks, the edit button will be made available to Twitter Blue subscribers, according to the social media site.

As of right now, tweets cannot be modified. To reflect the modifications, it has to be tweeted once again.

What Will Happen?

For up to 30 minutes after a tweet has been published, users can edit it using the edit button.

The updated tweet will be clearly marked with a label, timestamp, and icon when it is published. Additionally, Twitter users will be able to view all the changes made to the original content by clicking the tweet.

With an estimated 320 million active users, Twitter has received several requests to implement a feature that would enable users to alter posts after they have been shared. Despite numerous pleas from users, Twitter had long refused to do so.

Fear Regarding The Feature

The business would “probably never” offer the “edit tweet” feature, according to then-Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, who stated this in an interview with Wired in 2020, because it could encourage the propagation of false information.
