Yesterday, Google officially announced a suite of proactive health and safety tools, Health Guardian. Health Guardian features include three new capabilities that can track important shifts in your body over time and deliver insights to help you make informed choices about your health.
Health Guardian features
There are four features:
- Insulin Resistance Trends– Insulin resistance affects how efficiently your body absorbs energy from food. When your insulin resistance is trending high, your body works overtime to deliver that energy. Prolonged unmanaged insulin resistance can lead to a deterioration of your metabolic health. If you catch fluctuations in your insulin resistance early, you have the opportunity to improve your metabolic health by changing your nutrition, sleep, and movement. A first-of-its-kind feature on Pixel and Fitbit wearables, Insulin Resistance Trends analyses multi-week physiological data to track shifts in your metabolic health without requiring a single drop of blood.
- Blood Pressure Trends– Google’s devices passively measure your pulse and motion patterns throughout the month to estimate your blood pressure trends without requiring a cuff or manual calibration. This helps you spot persistent higher cardiovascular trends early so you can make lifestyle changes, confirm patterns with a home blood pressure monitor, or consult a healthcare professional.
- Sleep Breathing Quality Trends– Sleep Breathing Quality Trends gives you a new way of understanding how your breathing changes while you sleep. Each morning, you’ll see how much of your sleep was spent in optimal breathing. Those insights come together into a monthly assessment that can help you recognize longer-term patterns, adjust your sleep environment and daily habits, or talk with a healthcare professional about how to increase your daytime energy.
- Breathing emergency detection– A first of its kind, opt-in feature on Pixel Watch, breathing emergency detection can recognise when a person’s blood oxygen level drops dangerously low. If they become unresponsive, it can automatically call emergency services, and if applicable, their emergency contacts so they can receive potentially life-saving care.
According to Google, every Health Guardian feature has undergone thoughtful clinical validation with gold-standard ground truth devices and measurement protocols, incorporating feedback from the scientific community.
For example, Insulin Resistance Trends is built with Google’s latest large sensor foundational model and Blood Pressure Trends is built on WavesFM.
The information tracked via Health Guardian features is shared in a monthly summary in the Google Health app that highlights noteworthy shifts. Whenever you get new information, Google Health Coach is there to help you understand what it means.
Availabiltiy
Health Guardian features will be coming soon to the Google Health app for qualified Pixel Watch and Fitbit Air.
The Breathing Emergency Detection feature will be available on Pixel Watch in selected European countries only.
Apart from this, Google is also making sharing between Android devices easier, starting with Pixel.
Quick Share
Starting with Pixel, eligible devices can now use Quick Share and tap to send contact info, photos, videos and more. Just bring your compatible Android devices and another Android device close together for an instant, two-way exchange. To share photos or videos, open your phone’s Share Sheet and then tap the devices together.
The feature is rolling out to Pixel 6 and newer devices, and its coming soon to the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Fold 8 and Flip 8. Google will expand this feature to more Android devices by the end of the year.

The Pixel 11 series comes with smart Gemini Intelligence and advanced camera features.
- Rambler on Pixel devices, Gemini-powered voice input feature, that delivers fast, accurate voice input that transcribes your point clearly and concisely.
- Sign-to-text functionality in Gboard, allows signers to naturally sign messages while enahnced writing tools help craft relevant, tailored messages.
- Launching in Preview, your phone will also provide location-based insights.
- New Magic Capture feature that allows you to automatically snap those blink-and-you’ll-miss-it-baby smiles, playful pets, or hard to get actions. It uses both on-device intelligence and Gemini models to analyse around 400 frames to deliver high-quality 12MP photos.
- Camera Looks feature allows you to choose the extra aesthetic you are going for, right at the point of capture.
- Creator Suite makes content creation more easier on Pixel with social media gridlines, on-screen teleprompter, Storyboard and setting video as default mode.
- Instant Night Sight allows you to capture Night Sight images up to 4.5x times faster while still retaining the quality.
- Translate videos and audio in real time with Live Translate.
