Xiaomi Launches a Completely New M-Series Smartphone in China Called Redmi M100, Appears Similar to Redmi 17 5G (Global)

A new Redmi M-series smartphone has now officially broken cover in the Chinese market, called the Redmi M100. By looking at the specifications and features of the newly launched device, it appears to be a rebranded version of the globally introduced Redmi 17 5G.

Redmi M100 – Specifications and Features

Starting with its design, the Redmi M100 has been introduced in Wilderness Green, Starry Rain White, and Deep Night Black colour options. The device measures 170.12 × 78.42 × 8.8mm in dimensions and weighs 232g.

Similar to the Redmi 17 5G (Global), the smartphone features a 6.9″ LCD flat display with a 1600 × 720 pixel resolution, up to 120Hz refresh rate, and up to 240Hz touch sampling rate. The panel further offers a 1400:1 contrast ratio, 675 nits typical brightness, 825 nits global brightness, full-brightness DC dimming, 8-bit colour depth, and an 83% NTSC colour gamut.

Furthermore, the display supports Sunlight Display and has received TÜV Rheinland software-level low blue light, Circadian Friendly, and Flicker-Free certifications.

Under the hood, just like the Redmi 17 5G (Global), the Redmi M100 is also powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 Mobile Platform, built using a 4nm process and is offered with LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage, with memory configurations going up to 8GB RAM and 256GB storage.

Coming to its battery, the Redmi M100 packs a large 7,900mAh typical battery, while its minimum rated capacity is listed as 7,750mAh. The device supports up to 45W wired fast charging and also offers 22.5W wired reverse charging through its USB Type-C port.

For photography, the smartphone carries a 13MP primary rear camera, which supports Film Filters, Portrait, Time-lapse, Night, Dynamic Photo, front and rear dual-view, Pro, and Document modes. On the front, users get a 5MP selfie camera with Beauty Mode, Face Recognition, Portrait Mode, and Night Mode support.

Regarding its network capabilities, the Redmi M100 comes with dual Nano-SIM slots and supports Dual SIM Dual Standby.

As for connectivity, the device supports dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.1, and NFC. Its NFC capabilities include support for transport cards, Mi Pay, access cards, and compatible car keys. Xiaomi notes that transport card support is available across more than 300 cities, while over 40 transit cards can also be migrated from an old device.

The NFC-based car key feature can further be used for compatible vehicle functions such as unlocking or locking the car and starting the engine, although actual availability will depend on the supported region, bank, card, and vehicle.

For navigation, the smartphone supports BeiDou B1I, GPS L1, Galileo E1, QZSS L1, A-GPS, cellular network positioning, and Wi-Fi positioning. Its sensor list includes an ambient light sensor, accelerometer, electronic compass, and virtual proximity sensor.

On the audio side, the Redmi M100 is Hi-Res Audio certified for headphone playback and supports multiple audio/video formats.

The smartphone runs on Xiaomi HyperOS 3 out of the box.

Pricing and Availability

The Redmi M100 has now been made available for purchase via Xiaomi’s China official website, in three memory variants, where the 6GB + 256GB variant is priced at CNY 1,999, while the 8GB + 128GB and 8GB/256GB configurations have been mentioned at CNY 1,799 and CNY 2,199, respectively.

As mentioned, based on its overall specifications and features, the newly introduced Redmi M100 appears to be a rebranded version of the globally launched Redmi 17 5G.
