After launching the Redmi 17 5G in its home market, China, Xiaomi has now introduced the global variant of this device, alongside its 4G version. However, as suggested by the previously leaked marketing renders, the global Redmi 17 5G differs from its Chinese counterpart in terms of both design and specifications.

Redmi 17 5G Global Variant – Specifications and Pricing
The global Redmi 17 5G features a 6.9″ display with a resolution of 1600 × 720 pixels, up to a 120Hz refresh rate, up to a 240Hz touch sampling rate, 675 nits of typical brightness, and 825 nits of HBM brightness. Additionally, the display further supports DC dimming, Reading Mode and has also received TÜV Rheinland Low Blue Light, Circadian Friendly, and Flicker Free certifications.
Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by the 4nm-based Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 mobile platform and comes paired with 4GB/6GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB/256GB of UFS 2.2 internal storage. Memory Extension of up to 12GB is supported on the 6GB RAM variants, while the available storage can be expanded by up to 2TB using a microSD card.
Coming to its cameras, the global Redmi 17 5G sports a 50MP main camera with an f/1.8 aperture and a 5P lens, accompanied by an unspecified auxiliary camera. Whereas, an 8MP camera is given at the front.
The smartphone is backed by a large 7,500mAh battery supporting 45W turbo charging and up to 22.5W wired reverse charging. However, a power adapter is not included in the retail box.
On the software side, the device runs on Xiaomi HyperOS 3. It also comes equipped with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, AI Face Unlock, NFC, FM radio, a 3.5mm headphone jack, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.1, and a USB Type-C port. The smartphone supports both SA and NSA 5G networks and carries an IP64 rating for dust and water resistance.
Regarding its design, the global Redmi 17 5G measures 170.12 × 78.42 × 8.8mm and weighs 232g. It is offered in Black, Deep Blue, and Vivid Orange colour choices.
Speaking about its pricing in Malaysia, the 4GB/128GB and 4GB/256GB variants carry recommended retail prices of RM799 and RM899, respectively. As part of the promotional offer, the two variants are available at RM769 (~INR ₹17,882.29) and RM869 (~INR 20207.68), respectively.
Redmi 17 4G – Specifications and Pricing
The Redmi 17 4G shares several of its specifications with the global 5G model. It features the same 6.9″ display with a resolution of 1600 × 720 pixels, up to a 120Hz refresh rate, up to a 240Hz touch sampling rate, 675 nits of typical brightness, and 825 nits of HBM brightness. Corning Gorilla Glass 7i protection is also provided.
Powering the smartphone is the 12nm-based MediaTek Helio G91-Ultra processor, which is paired with 4GB/6GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB/256GB of eMMC 5.1 internal storage. It also supports Memory Extension of up to 12GB on the 6GB RAM variants and storage expansion of up to 2TB using a microSD card.
For photography, the Redmi 17 4G comes equipped with a 50MP main camera with an f/1.8 aperture and a 5P lens, along with an auxiliary camera. An 8MP selfie camera similar to the 5G variant is also given in this device.

In Malaysia, the Redmi 17 4G has been launched in a single 4GB/128GB memory variant and carries a retail price of RM699 (~INR 17,315), but is currently available at a promotional price of RM669 (~INR 15,556.89). The Malaysian pricing and availability details confirm that both models are now available through Xiaomi’s online and offline sales channels in the country.
