While we wait for Xiaomi to introduce the Redmi 17 5G in global markets, the brand has now officially launched the smartphone in its home market of China.

Redmi 17 5G – Specifications and Features
The Redmi 17 5G features a 6.9″ HD+ LCD display with a resolution of 1600 × 720 pixels, up to a 120Hz refresh rate, up to a 240Hz touch sampling rate, supports 800 nits of brightness, a 1500:1 contrast ratio, full-range DC dimming, and Wet Touch 2.0. It has also received TÜV Rheinland triple eye-protection certification.
Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by the 6nm-based Unisoc T8300 processor, which features an octa-core CPU with a maximum clock speed of 2.2GHz and a dual-core Mali-G57 GPU. It is paired with LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 internal storage, while storage expansion through a microSD card is supported as well.
Coming to its cameras, the Redmi 17 5G sports a 13MP camera at the rear and an 8MP selfie camera at the front.
The device is backed by a 6,300mAh typical-capacity battery which supports 15W wired charging, up to 7.5W reverse wired charging, and the PD and QC charging protocols. Xiaomi has also claimed that the battery is designed to maintain its performance for up to four years.
On the software side, the smartphone runs on Xiaomi HyperOS 3. It supports two Nano-SIM cards with dual-SIM dual-standby functionality and HD voice calling, along with 5G, 4G, 3G, and 2G mobile networks.
Other connectivity features include dual-band Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi 5, Wi-Fi 4, Wi-Fi Direct, and Bluetooth 5.4. For navigation, the smartphone supports BeiDou B1I, GPS L1, Galileo E1, QZSS L1, A-GPS, and Wi-Fi positioning.
In addition to this, the Redmi 17 5G comes equipped with an accelerometer, electronic compass, virtual ambient-light sensor, virtual proximity sensor, and vibration motor. It also features a USB Type-C port and a 3.5mm headphone jack. AAC, M4A, MP4, 3GP, AMR, MIDI, IMY, MP3, OGG, WAV, FLAC, MKV, and Opus media formats are supported by the device.
Regarding its design, the smartphone measures 171.56 × 79.47 × 8.15mm and weighs 210g. It is offered in Cold Mist Blue, Star Rock Black, and Feather Mist White colour choices.
Pricing and Availability
Speaking about its pricing, the Redmi 17 5G arrives in two memory options of 4GB/128GB and 6GB/128GB. These variants are priced at CNY 999 and CNY 1,199, respectively.
The smartphone is currently available for purchase through the Xiaomi China online store. One important detail to note here is that the recently leaked marketing renders of its global variant showcased a completely different design from the model launched in China. This suggests that Xiaomi could introduce a different smartphone under the Redmi 17 5G moniker in global markets.
