Yesterday, Google introduced a new category of laptop: Googlebook. It is designed for Gemini Intelligence and engineered to work with your Android phone right out of the box.

Googlebook
To make the experience better for Android users, Google has teamed up with the best laptop makers in the industry to deliver top-tier hardware alongside Google software. Google’s initial selection of flagship devices are built by Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP and Lenovo.
Every Googlebook features premium materials like aluminium, magnesium alloy and carbon fibre. Users will find responsive touchscreens with up to 2.8K OLED displays, haptic glass trackpads and backlit keyboards.
Under the hood, top-of-the-line processors from Intel and Qualcomm- paired with dedicated NPUs capable of over 45 TOPS- deliver snappy on-device performance and up to 14 hours of battery life.
Googlebook also brings back the Glowbar, positioned cleanly on the exterior. It lights up at startup, sweeps to show your battery charge level, and reacts with playful animations when you talk to Gemini.
It is built on a shared Android foundation. When you sign in, your Android phone’s settings, saved passwords, WiFi networks, and messages will move with you, backed by end-to-end encryption. Googlebook makes it easy to move between your phone and laptop with features like Continue on, Files and Cast My apps.
Googlebook is designed for Gemini Intelligence to simplify your workflow with features like Magic Pointer, Rambler and Create My Widget features. It brings together the best of the web and the Play Store.
You get the desktop-class Chrome browser with extensions alongside millions of Android apps. Run native creative tools like Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Lightroom, and CapCut, or watch shows on popular streaming platforms like Netflix and HBO Max, with offline viewing supported. You can also explore thousands of Android games or play AAA titles with a complimentary year of GeForce NOW included with every purchase.
For builders and makers, it includes Antigravity, allowing you to build, test and deploy apps right on your device. Developers also get a full terminal environment to run tools like Claude Code or Antigravity CLI and perform serious agentic coding.
It is built on the same security architecture as ChromeOS. It also features a first for the laptop category: a Level 5 security-certified pKVM hypervisor. The Gemini features that you know and use on Chrome and Android are available on Googlebook out of the box. You can even close your laptop while Gemini Spark works in the background to process complex requests and finish your tasks.
Pricing and Availability
Starting at $899, every Googlebook includes 12 months of Google AI Pro providing 5TB of cloud storage and Gemini Advanced tools, plus 3 months of YouTube Premium, Adobe Photoshop, and more. Googlebook OS also comes with regular feature drops and updates for up to 10 years.
Pre-orders are open on the Google Store, Best Buy, and other select retailers. Devices will be available on October 4 in the US, and October 5 in Canada, the UK, Ireland, France, Germany and Australia.
