Today the UK has become the first country to sign deals with multiple pharma companies to get around 90 million supplies of the COVID-19 vaccines.
The first is with BioNTech and Pfizer, for 30 million doses. The second deal, for 60 million doses, is with French firm Valneva. These are in addition to the 100 million doses of the Oxford University vaccine being developed by AstraZeneca.
So as of now UK is leading the race to accuire vaccines with around 190 Million doses.
There was a tweet by the prime minister office regarding the news update for the accusation of the COVID-19 vaccines. The tweet stated that We’ve secured early access to 90 million doses of promising coronavirus vaccine candidates from @BioNTech_Group, @pfizer and @valnevaSE, and treatments containing neutralizing antibodies from @AstraZeneca to protect those who cannot receive vaccines.”
