UP Government threatens’ severe action after UP CM Yogi Adityanath’s Twitter account was hacked

The office of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s Twitter account was temporarily hijacked early Saturday. The state government responded by stating that “severe action” would be taken against the individuals responsible.

“Anti-social elements attempted to hack the Chief Minister’s Office’s official Twitter account @CMOfficeUP on April 9 at 12:30 a.m., posting some tweets that were quickly recovered.” “(sic),” stated a tweet from the CM’s office in Hindi.

The hackers had changed the profile image to a cartoon and sent out hundreds of tweets as a result. The length of the hack is yet to be determined. More than 40.53 lakh people follow the account. Over 300 tweets were flagged as spam, and the hacker also deleted prior tweets.

The hackers left a message on the timeline titled “How to turn your BAYC/MAYC animated on Twitter.”

In December of last year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Twitter account was similarly hacked. The hackers claimed that India had “formally recognised bitcoin as legal tender” in a tweet from the Prime Minister’s Twitter account. “The government has officially acquired 500 BTC and is giving them to all residents of the country,” the hackers wrote, sharing a link and urging people to “hurry up.”
