He tweets and says, “With the death of Lata Mangeshkar the subcontinent has lost one of the truly great singers the world has known. Listening to her songs has given so much pleasure to so many people all over the world.”

Lata Mangeshkar laid to rest at Mumbai’s Shivaji Park with full state honours in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi among others. Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray and state minister Aaditya Thackeray also pay last respect to veteran singer. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Sunday expressed her deepest sadness at the demise of singing legend Lata Mangeshkar, and announced a half-day holiday on Monday to mourn the death of the singer. Also, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s website highlighted on Sunday the “special bond” between him and Lata Mangeshkar.
