A new community message shared by Ford, Vice President of OnePlus India Business, has now officially confirmed the rumors surrounding the upcoming software restructuring within OPPO. OnePlus devices will gradually transition from OxygenOS to ColorOS, while the earlier reports concerning the brand ending its new product launches in the US and European markets have also been confirmed. Additionally, Realme has officially announced that it will stop launching new products in the Chinese market.

OnePlus Confirms US and European Market Exit; OxygenOS to Transition to ColorOS
As reported earlier by the German publication WinFuture and later highlighted by Bloomberg, OnePlus was said to be preparing to end its business operations in the US and European markets. The same has now received an official confirmation, with the brand announcing that it will no longer introduce new OnePlus products in North America and Europe.
However, existing OnePlus users in these regions will continue receiving the software updates, security patches, warranty coverage, and after-sales support promised for their devices. OPPO has also confirmed that the available support and warranty agreements will continue to be honored following the withdrawal of OnePlus from these markets.
Speaking more, OnePlus has now confirmed that eligible existing devices across global markets will be offered the option to voluntarily move from OxygenOS to ColorOS following the official release of ColorOS 17. The company points out that the software unification will help it streamline development, improve software quality, speed up update delivery, and make better use of the shared engineering and R&D resources available within OPPO.
Users who do not wish to move to ColorOS will be able to remain on OxygenOS, while rollback packages are also expected to be offered for devices that make the transition. Older smartphones that are not included within the ColorOS upgrade scope will continue receiving maintenance support for their existing OxygenOS versions. However, the complete rollout timeline and list of eligible devices are still under wraps.
OnePlus India Operations to Continue
Adding to the above information, Bloomberg had also reported that OnePlus could eventually wind up its operations across most global markets, including India, sometime in 2027. However, OnePlus India has pushed back against these claims and states that the country continues to remain one of its most important global markets.
In the community message, Ford points out that OnePlus will continue investing in its products, services, and user experience in the Indian market. He further highlighted the recently introduced India-focused OnePlus N series and confirmed that the brand will soon expand the lineup with the upcoming OnePlus N6x smartphone.
Also to add, OnePlus users now have access to more than 600 service centers across India through the brand’s expanded after-sales partnership with OPPO. Existing customers are said to continue receiving product support, warranty coverage, software updates, and after-sales services as usual.
The ColorOS transition will also apply to eligible OnePlus devices in India. However, the update will be optional for existing users, and the brand has stated that its commitment to offering a fast, intuitive, and user-focused software experience will remain unchanged.
Realme Confirms China Market Exit and ColorOS Transition
Moving on to Realme, Bloomberg had earlier reported that the brand would stop operating in the Chinese smartphone market and shift its resources towards global regions. The same has now been confirmed, with Realme announcing that it will no longer launch new products in China and will instead focus on overseas markets.
Existing Realme users in China will continue receiving sales, warranty, and after-sales support through OPPO’s official service network. Furthermore, Realme UI will also be replaced by ColorOS, starting with ColorOS 17, as part of the same software consolidation strategy within OPPO.
Regarding its global strategy, an earlier report pointed out that Realme could increase its focus on Nordic markets such as Finland, Denmark, Sweden, and Iceland. However, the brand’s official announcement has only confirmed its broader focus on overseas markets and has not shared a complete region-wise product roadmap yet.
Looking at the latest developments, two major details from the Bloomberg report have now turned out to be correct—OnePlus ending new product launches in the US and Europe, and Realme withdrawing from the Chinese market. The reported OnePlus India exit remains the only major claim that the company has pushed back against.
Hopefully, OnePlus will continue operating in the Indian market in the coming years as stated by the company. However, since the reported India exit timeline points to 2027, it remains to be seen how the brand’s global restructuring eventually takes shape.
Stay tuned for more updates!
