OnePlus Reportedly Planning to End Its India Operations in 2027

As per the latest report from Bloomberg, OnePlus could begin ceasing its operations in the US and European markets as early as this week. The move is said to be taking place as part of a larger restructuring within its parent company OPPO. Speaking more, the report claims that the shutdown will eventually be expanded to other global markets, including India, sometime in 2027. However, OnePlus is expected to continue operating in its home market of China.

Notably, OnePlus and OPPO have not officially announced these reported plans yet. A spokesperson representing the two brands also declined to comment on the matter to Bloomberg, and an exact timeline concerning the expected India exit is therefore still under wraps.

Rumors concerning the future of OnePlus first gained attention in January 2026, when it was claimed that the brand was being dismantled globally. OnePlus India had brushed off the claims at the time and stated that its business operations were continuing as usual. However, Robin Liu later stepped down from his position as the OnePlus India CEO amid reports of an ongoing restructuring within OPPO’s global business.

Following this, OnePlus India also shifted towards an online-dominant and direct-to-consumer sales model. The brand is currently selling its smartphones through Amazon India and its own official Indian website, while its after-sales service coverage has been expanded using OPPO’s service infrastructure.

Regarding the reasons behind the reported restructuring, Bloomberg points towards financial challenges faced by OPPO’s smartphone businesses and a lack of momentum in the US, European, and Indian markets. Geopolitical concerns surrounding Chinese smartphone brands in the US and an Apple lawsuit related to trade secrets have also been mentioned. Also to add, increasing memory and other component costs have made the production of lower-priced smartphones more challenging for brands, including OnePlus and its Nord lineup.

In related news, Realme is also said to be preparing to exit the Chinese market as part of the same restructuring. OPPO will reportedly focus more on Central Europe, while Realme-branded smartphones will be pushed in the Nordic region, which includes Finland, Denmark, Sweden, and Iceland.

OnePlus recently launched its new OnePlus N6 smartphone in India and has now started teasing the arrival of the OnePlus N6x as well. The OnePlus N6 was released in the country on June 30th, 2026, whereas the N6x is expected to break its cover soon as the second model under the new N series.

At this time, OnePlus has not officially confirmed that it will be exiting the Indian market in 2027. Therefore, it remains to be seen how the reported restructuring will affect the brand’s upcoming product launches in the country.
