Despite Donald Trump administration’s ban, TikTok US chief says it’ll continue to operate in US

Chinese short-video app TikTok will continue to operate in the US despite the Trump administration’s sweeping order issued earlier to ban the app, Bloomberg reported quoting the company’s senior executive Vanessa Pappas.

“We believe we have multiple paths forward to ensure that we continue to provide this amazing app experience to the millions of Americans who come to rely on it every day,” said Pappas.

Owing to national security concerns, the Trump administration has ordered parent company ByteDance to either sell TikTok’s US operations or shutdown its American operations completely.

As tensions spike between the world’s two biggest economies, Trump has claimed Beijing could use the video-sharing app to track the locations of federal employees, and conduct corporate espionage.
