Finally, its next SUV EV model has been made official as Xiaomi CEO – Lei Jun himself presented it to the world through his latest online updates. As per what has been shared, the new EV model of the brand is expected to be launched in the summer of 2025.
Here’s more about it.
Xiaomi’s Upcoming YU7 SUV EV Now Official
As mentioned above, so far the tech world has also been seeing camouflaged images and regulatory filings of the brand’s next EV, along with a few rumor updates, and it is now that we are seeing a full front and back view of its design.
From the images shared by Lei Jun via X (and Weibo), the upcoming YU7 is more or less similar to the already-launched SU7 in terms of design, but with a taller body and minor design upgrades to give it an SUV-like appearance. Also, the YU7 being an SUV EV has more ground clearance too when compared to the brand’s sedan EV. Aerodynamic adjustments can also be spotted, as well as a spoiler at the rear.
Speaking more, in his Weibo update, Lei Jun notes that the official launch of the YU7 is expected to take place in the month of either ‘June or July next year’ in 2025. He also adds that the soon release is so that the brand can uncover the EV from its camouflage state and start to have ‘more comprehensive, detailed, long-term, and large-scale’ tests on it to ‘ensure product quality and make better products’.
Apart from the above images and details, nothing else has been shared about the YU7 SUV EV. However, with the previous regulatory filing, some key specs have been revealed. So far, only one variant has been listed with length x width x height dimension of 4,999 mm x 1,996 mm x 1,600 mm. It has a wheel base of 3,000 mm and weighs 2,405 kg. Front and rear motors are present with peak power of 220 kW and 288 kW respectively, capable of providing a top speed of 253 km/h. Notably, a lithium-ion ternary battery from CATL is said to power the two motors.
More details can be expected soon as we approach the launch time frame, which will reveal more about Xiaomi’s next EV model. Stay tuned for it.
