Today, Ola Electric officially announced that it has received BIS certification for its indigenously developed 46100 LFP cell. This achievement makes it India’s first company to receive BIS certification for an indigenous developed cell in the 46100 format.

Further, the 46100 LFP cell has also qualified under IS 16893 Parts 2 and 3 and UN 38.3 standards, confirming that the cell has completed the prescribed electrical, mechanical, environmental, reliability, abuse, and transportation-safety evaluations.

To achieve the BIS Certification, 46100 LFP cell underwent multiple endurance and qualification tests, including thermal abuse, external short circuit, forced discharge, impact, altitude, abnormal charging, vibration, continuous low-rate charging, crush, free fall, and mechanical shock assessments.
This cell offers an energy density of over 170Wh/kg, broad operating-temperature capability, and a development pathway towards more than 4000 charge-discharge cycles, to address applications where safety, lifecycle and cost are as critical as energy and power performance.
Ola Electric’s developed 4680 Bharat cells-powered vehicles are already on Indian roads. And now developing both NMC and LFP technologies on a common 46-series architecture, the company is uniquely positioned to deploy the most suitable chemistry across mobility and energy-storage applications while increasing domestic value addition.
