Yesterday, Mahindra officially launched its Thar OG in the Indian market. This SUV succeeds the three-door Thar unveiled in 2020.
Mahindra Thar OG: Features
It features a bold new grille with new LED headlamps and signature C-shaped DRLs on the outside, along with new rugged front and rear bumpers with a wider track. New R19 alloy wheels, LED ice-cube fog lamps with cornering lamps, and new LED taillamps are some of its other features. Two new colour options are unveiled: Artemis Silver and Jeans Blue, along with 6 existing colours.
Inside the cabin, there is a soft second-row armrest with cupholders and truffle brown leatherette seats. For safety, there are 6 airbags, including 4 first-in-segment Head Pelvis Thorax Shoulder airbags for front and rear passenger protection. All 4 disc brakes arrive with a comprehensive ESP 9.3 suite and front parking sensors.
The Thar OG is underpinned by the M_Glyde 4G platform with higher stiffness to deliver confident driving both on-road and off-road. The rear PENTALINK suspension incorporates a Watts Link for better cornering stability and precise control.
It boasts DAVINCI Damping technology with Frequency Dependent Damping (FDD), Electric Power Steering (EPS) and enhanced NVH Damping for a refined cabin experience and a plush ride.
Electronic Locking Differential (ELD) enhances go-anywhere capability. There are purpose-built Terrain Modes: Mud, Sand & Snow.
Coming to the powertrains, there are three options:
- G20 TGDi mStallion Petrol- 119 kW | 330Nm
- D22 mHawk Diesel- 111.9 kW | 330Nm
- D117 CRDe Diesel- 87.2 kW | 300 Nm
