Airtel revised the price of its SMS and Voice only packs

Last month TRAI (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India) amended tariff rules to mandate mobile service providers to issue a separate plan for voice calls and SMS, for customers who do not require data. To abide by this new amendment, telecom companies Jio, Airtel, and Vi (Vodafone Idea) introduced their new SMS and voice-only packs.

Yesterday TRAI announced(bute later deleted the post) on X that it has taken note of the recent SMS and voice-only packs and has asked the service provider to report about these recently launched plans which will be examined by TRAI as per extant regulatory provisions.

This seems to have made Airtel revise the prices of its SMS and voice-only packs. Earlier Airtel introduced two plans- Rs 509 and Rs 1999. Rs 509 plan came with 84 days validity and offered benefits like unlimited calls and 900 SMS while Rs 1999 plan came with 365 days validity and offered benefits like unlimited calls and 3600 SMS.

But now as per the revised prices, the plan with 84 days validity is priced at Rs 469 and the plan with 365 days validity is priced at Rs 1849.
