After Jio and Airtel, Vodafone Idea introduces its Voice and SMS only pack

Yesterday Reliance Jio introduced its two new value packs- Rs 458 and Rs 1958. These plans included unlimited voice calling and SMS benefits but without internet as per their duration. Similarly, Airtel also introduced two new prepaid plans with unlimited voice calling but without internet- Rs 509 and Rs 1999.

Now after Jio and Airtel, Vodafone Idea has also introduced a voice and SMS only pack- Rs 1460.

This new pack comes with 270 days of validity and offers benefits like 100 SMS and unlimited calls for all networks.

These plans introduced by the telecom companies were announced after telecom regulator, TRAI had amended tariff rules to mandate mobile service providers to issue a separate plan for voice calls and SMS, for customers who do not require data.

This new directive by TRAI is a huge relief for countless customers who were previously forced to choose plans that included costly data, even if they didn’t require it. Users can opt for voice-only plans introduced by telecom companies and avoid unnecessary data charges.

Other than this TRAI has also recently clarified regulations regarding inactive SIM cards. Earlier a SIM card faces deactivation if it remains unused for more than 90 days. However, as per the clarified regulations, if the SIM has a remaining prepaid balance, Rs 20 will be automatically deducted to extend its activation for an additional 30 days. In cases where the balance is insufficient, the SIM will be deactivated, preventing all communication services, and the number will eventually be recycled for new users.
