Qualcomm and MediaTek are both expected to introduce their next-generation flagship mobile processors in the coming months, and ahead of their official debut, alleged engineering samples of these upcoming chipsets have now surfaced for sale on a Chinese second-hand marketplace called Xianyu.

Qualcomm SM8975-100-BC Engineering Sample – Listed for CNY 300
Starting with Qualcomm, an engineering sample carrying the model marking SM8975-100-BC was listed on the marketplace for CNY 300, although the listing has since been taken down. While the post sharing the listing refers to it as the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, previous reports have associated the SM8975 model number with Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset. Notably, the difference in the ‘Extreme’ and ‘Elite Pro’ naming appears to be related to how the Chinese naming has been translated into English.

Speaking more, the listing described the chip as an engineering/disassembled sample, and it is said to be unencrypted. The seller further mentioned that it can be used for mobile phone motherboards, repair, and expansion purposes, while free shipping was offered from two pieces onwards.
Furthermore, the chip surface was claimed to be intact and bulk stock was also said to be available.

Notably, the close-up image of the chipset clearly reveals the Qualcomm, SM8975, and 100-BC markings, along with an additional FX602R8T marking. Reports regarding the listing also point out that SM8975-100-BC is believed to be an early engineering sample of Qualcomm’s upcoming flagship chipset.
Speaking of its official debut, Qualcomm has already confirmed that the Snapdragon Summit 2026 will be taking place from 22nd September to 24th September 2026, and the company is expected to introduce its next-generation flagship Snapdragon mobile platform during the event. Hence, we will likely not have to wait much longer to know more about the chipset officially.
MediaTek MT6993Z and MT6995Z Engineering Samples – Listed for CNY 200
Coming to MediaTek, engineering samples carrying the model numbers MT6993Z and MT6995Z have also appeared on the same marketplace, and these were being offered for CNY 200.
Similar to the Qualcomm sample, the MediaTek chips are also described as engineering/disassembled samples, and are also said to be unencrypted, intact, and available in bulk stock.
Speaking more, separate bags carrying handwritten MT6993Z and MT6995Z markings can also be seen in the shared images, with multiple loose BGA chips placed inside them. The underside/BGA contact layout of some of these engineering chips has also been shown.

Interestingly, while the post sharing these images calls the MediaTek sample the Dimensity 9600 Pro, the marketplace listing itself mentions both MT6993Z and MT6995Z. Notably, the MT6993Z model number is already associated with the existing Dimensity 9500 processor, and hence, whether the MT6995Z indeed belongs to the upcoming Dimensity 9600 Pro cannot be said for sure at the moment. TechInsights has previously identified the MT6993Z package as the Dimensity 9500.
Furthermore, one of the packages photographed alongside the MediaTek samples can also be seen carrying Samsung branding/markings, although it is not clear from the images what exact component this package belongs to.
As mentioned, these are engineering/disassembled samples that were listed on a Chinese second-hand marketplace, and the actual identities of some of these chips are still not officially confirmed. While the SM8975-100-BC sample appears to be related to Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro, the exact identity of the MT6995Z sample and whether it belongs to the Dimensity 9600 Pro will likely become clearer in the coming months.
