Samsung has been following its iconic vertically aligned rear camera design for the past several Galaxy S-series generations. However, with the upcoming Galaxy S27 series, and specifically the Galaxy S27 Ultra, this design could finally be changed. Now, giving us our first look at the device, CAD-based renders of the upcoming smartphone have been shared online.

Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra – CAD-Based Renders and Rumoured Specifications
According to the CAD-based renders shared by OnLeaks in collaboration with Android Headlines, the overall design of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra appears largely similar to that of the Galaxy S26 Ultra. However, the biggest change can be seen on its rear panel.
Samsung appears to be replacing its vertically arranged individual camera rings with a large, raised camera deco extending across the upper portion of the rear panel. The renders show two individual circular camera rings on the left side, while the third camera, LED flash and other sensors can be seen within a pill-shaped section.
Speaking more about this design, well, it all depends on the perspective from which you look at it. While several people may feel that the rear camera camera deco resembles the camera design of the iPhone 17 Pro series, to me, it appears more similar to the camera module seen on the itel Zeno 100 Pro smartphone.
The renders further show three rear cameras instead of the four-camera setup featured on the Galaxy S26 Ultra. This again suggests that Samsung could be planning to remove one of the existing rear cameras from its upcoming Ultra flagship.
Speaking more, the S Pen can also be seen within the bottom portion of the smartphone. This confirms that Samsung is not planning to remove the S Pen from the Galaxy S27 Ultra, at least according to the CAD-based renders.
Coming to the dimensions, the Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra is revealed to measure approximately 163.76 × 78.25 × 7.97mm. When the large camera Deco is included, the total thickness of the smartphone is said to increase to approximately 12.53mm.
For comparison, the existing Galaxy S26 Ultra measures 163.6 × 78.1 × 7.9mm. This means that the upcoming Galaxy S27 Ultra could be slightly taller, wider and thicker than its predecessor. However, the weight of the smartphone has not yet been revealed.
At the front, the Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra is expected to feature a 6.9″ display with slim bezels and a centrally aligned punch-hole cutout for the selfie camera.
Galaxy S27 Ultra – CAD renders
Speaking more, the Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra is reportedly unlikely to feature LPDDR6 RAM or UFS 5.0 storage. However, the smartphone could arrive with a silicon-carbon battery offering a capacity of around 5,700mAh. However, another tipster mentioned it would likely come with a 5,500mAh battery, but that claim was later dismissed as fake by tipster Ice Universe.
Coming to the cameras, the Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra could feature a 1/1.3″ Samsung ISOCELL HP6 sensor for its primary camera. Its ultrawide camera is tipped to use a 50MP Sony IMX855 sensor.
As stated above, the CAD-based renders show only three rear cameras. Previous reports have claimed that Samsung could remove the existing 10MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. The upcoming smartphone could instead rely on a single 50MP telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom.
This would mean that the Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra could feature a triple-camera system consisting of a primary camera, an ultrawide camera and a single 5x telephoto camera.
Coming to the launch, the Samsung Galaxy S27 series could reportedly be announced in February 2027. The launch event is said to take place during the week of the 22nd of February 2027, shortly before MWC 2027.
Since these details are based on CAD renders and early rumours, it is best to take them with a pinch of salt. Samsung has not yet officially confirmed the design, specifications or launch timeline of the Galaxy S27 Ultra. However, with future leaks and official updates, we’ll be able to learn more about the upcoming flagship smartphone.
